Jack McCaffrie


Jack McCaffrie is a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security at Wollongong University, He retired from the RAN in February 2003 on returning from his final posting as Naval Attaché, Washington. He was recently awarded his PhD at the Centre.

His recent work includes co-authoring Navies of Southeast Asia: A Comparative Study and (as a Visiting Fellow at the RAN’s Sea Power Centre) writing the second edition of the RAN’s doctrine publication Australian Maritime Operations. His current work includes a history of the Pacific Patrol Boat Program and a history of defence policy the RAN’s development from 1955 to 1983.
