Ahn Ton


ANCORS PhD graduate Commander Anh Ton is a naval officer from Vietnam. He joined the Vietnamese Navy in 1992 and graduated as a Bachelor of Science from the Vietnamese Maritime University in 1998. He is a graduate of the Royal Australian Navy Hydrographic School and the Australian Command and Staff College. He also finished a Maritime Search and Rescue Course from the National Maritime Search and Rescue School in the United States of America. Commander Anh Ton holds a Master of Maritime Policy from the University of Wollongong, a Graduate Diploma in Defence Strategic Studies from the Australian Command and Staff College and a Graduate Certificate in Defence Studies from the University of New South Wales.

Prior to his PhD studies at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security, Commander Anh Ton worked as a lecturer at the Vietnamese Naval Academy.

Research interests:

Law of the Sea and Law of the Air, Maritime Law and Policy, Law of Armed Conflicts at Sea, Maritime and Regional Security.

PhD Thesis Title: 

Navigating the Shoals of the South China Sea: International Law and Geopolitical Issues surrounding the Passage of Sovereign Immune Vessels and Aircraft
