Biography:

Ms. Pakjuta KHEMAKORN obtained her PhD from the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) of the University of Wollongong (UOW) in 2017. Ms Khemakorn is a Fisheries Biologist working for Department of Fisheries (DoF), Thailand. She started working in 1994 as a Marine Biologist at Satun Marine Fisheries Station. In 1999, she moved to work at Southern Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center (SMDEC) in Songkhla Province and has worked there up until present day. Her work duties are currently concerned in monitoring on abundance and distribution of fisheries resources as well as studying on population structure of marine resources, particularly pelagic fish, in national and regional waters. For academic degrees, she holds B.Sc. (1992) and M.Sc. (1996) in Marine Science from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

During 20 years of her career, she has attended several trainings and workshops with regard to marine fisheries, as well as involved with many fisheries researches and projects, both in national and international levels. In addition, she has been awarded the United Nations-the Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship in 2006 for doing research at ANCORS (6 months) and the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS), the United Nations (3 months). In 2008, she has been awarded the Royal Thai Government Scholarship for studying Ph.D. at ANCORS (commencing 2009).
