Huey-Shian (Elly) Chung

Biography:

Huey-Shian Chung is a PhD graduate of the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security. She received the 2012 International Postgraduate Research Scholarship and the Australian Postgraduate Award from the Australian Government. She holds a master degree in political science from National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan. Her master thesis was entitled “A Study on the Factors Contributing to the Formation of Coalitions in International Multilateral Environmental Negotiations”.

Prior to her PhD study, she worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Marine Policy Studies in National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan. Research projects she undertook focused on the European Commission’s Integrated Maritime Policy, commissioned by the National Science Council, and strategies for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Participation, commissioned by the Environmental Protection Administration in Taiwan. She also worked as a research assistant in the Fishery Resource Management Lab of the Institute of Marine Affairs to analyse Taiwanese coastal fisheries dynamics.

PhD Thesis Title: Environmental Justice and Marine Protected Areas: Developing a Model of Environmental Justice-based MPAs
